What homeowners and property managers should know

Concrete pools may have pebblecrete, plaster, tiles or older coatings. In some circumstances, an existing concrete shell can be refurbished with a suitable applied fibreglass lining system. This is not appropriate for every pool, and the proposed substrate, moisture conditions and structural integrity should be professionally assessed first.

What condition is the concrete shell in?

Check for cracking, movement, water ingress, failed finishes and any known leaks. A surface lining should not be presented as the solution to an unresolved structural defect.

How does preparation affect the result?

The intended lining system must be compatible with the substrate and correctly prepared. Removing failed coatings, repairing unsuitable areas and addressing moisture issues may form part of the scope.

What affects the quote?

Pool size, access, steps, detailed shapes, existing finishes and necessary repairs determine the proposed work. Request a written scope rather than assuming a standard price.
